Concha Y Toro Terrunyo 'Block 27' Carmenere 2007
*Gold Medal Winner - International Wine Challenge 2010* The Terrunyo Range is a prestigious range from Concha y Toro from vineyards where specifically chosen grape stock has been planted in small areas of carefully selected soils and micro climates. This range has been created by Concha y Toro’s top winemaker Ignacio Recabarren. The wines are very individual and characterful and will greatly enhance the reputation of Chile’s top wines. The 'Block 27' Carmenere is 85% Carmenère, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot & 1% Cabernet Franc, from grapes picked in the Peumo Vineyard, Rapel Valley. The Carmenere is still tight, but should become more rounded with continued bottle aging. It gives ripe green pepper & bitter chocolate with hints of tobacco.
Great wine; a bit too commercial... too perfect, however, I highly recommend it but never over an Aconcagua Valley, Errazuriz or Von Siebenthal, premium Carmenere.
