What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Winemakers Notes

Ripe and pure, with lovely violet, blackberry and plum aromas and flavors that glide along sweet, imbedded tannins. Has a healthy layer of flashy toast, but more than enough fruit for balance. Drink now through 2008.

Velvety, supple, mouthwatering Merlot from Chile at a great price. Deep purple in color, with a bouquet of red plums, black peppers, cassis, with hints of spices. This Merlot has velvety, firm, ripe tannins imparting smoothness and balance. Subtle hints of vanilla and ripe fruit. Aged 14 months in one, two, and three years old French oak barrels, then aged for a further six to 8 months after bottling. Enjoy with red and white meats, pasta, cheese.

Tasted this last night. It was big and bold. Blackberry and chocolate come to mind. tannins have a great, maybe even unique texture. This could age for a little while longer I think.

Rating: 5/5 - As reviewed by Decanter Nice spicy oak aromas along with rich black fruit. Lovely ripe dark fruits with a hint of chocolate and coffee. Very well made, nice oak balance. Drink up to 2008.

[Blind Cab Tasting] Very big - tannic and acidic, but good. Powerful. Concentrated. Ager. New world? Black cherry. Currants. Aussie-like. Minty finish.
