Concha y Toro Syrah Marqués de Casa Concha(2004)

Ripe and pure, with lovely violet, blackberry and plum aromas and flavors that glide along sweet, imbedded tannins. Has a healthy layer of flashy toast, but more than enough fruit for balance. Drink now through 2008.

Nice spicy oak aromas along with rich black fruit. Lovely ripe dark fruits with a hint of chocolate and coffee. Very well made, nice oak balance. Drink up to 2008.

Dark and intense purple color. Nose is full of very extracted fruit, dark berries and some underlying vegetable notes of bell pepper. No spicy aromas as expected and not overly oaked. The mouth doesn't show an over the top fruit bomb, and despite lot's of sweet tannins and ripe fruit it shows some good balance. The alcohol is high but the good balance of acidity and good structure keeps it in check. The finish is nice and soft but not complex. [89]
