Concha Y Toro Pinot Grigio Casillero del Diablo 2010

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

A bit sharp on the nose with a light mineral dusting over the top of yellow floral notes and pear fruit, with some cashew butter accents. This is rather lighter bodied with a touch of flesh and some nice acid-driven vibrancy. It’s actually rather fresh feeling, though the fruit does have a lightly jammy, bitter orange aspect to it with a slightly bitter finish. Elegant and fresh, this isn’t bad at all, just a touch unusual. 84pts

Legend has it that in the early 1890s, winery founder Don Melchor went to his cellar to discover several of his best wines had gone missing. Hoping to ward off more thieves, he spread the rumor that this must have happened because a devil lived in his cellar, hence the name, which translates to “the devil’s cellar.” The first wines branded Casillero del Diablo were produced by Concha y Toro in 1953 and became an international success by the 1960s. The devil icon became a part of the packaging starting in the 1990s. The portfolio is now under the direction of winemaker Marcelo Papa. The wines are available in many styles and varietals of dry reds and whites, plus rosés and sparkling wines. Many of these considered terrific values for their pricepoints.  Read less

A great tasting Pinot Grigio, soft pleasant taste, well balanced, not too sweet. Clean finish. a pleasant fragrant of honey, and tree fruits.

Very floral aroma, hints of oregano and citrus. The finish is way too sweet for me, made it difficult to drink more than 1 glass.
