Concha Y Toro Merlot Xplorador 2014

Member Review by zufrieden:

I believe that, drinking lower-end wines helps keep the palate honest. When 90 Plus Wines reported a 90 point Parker scoring for this second-from-the-bottom tier Casillero del Diablo offering from the capable people at Concha Y Toro, my parsimonious (but suspicious) side took note. The wine does indeed have good depth of color and a nice plum-like nose with a touch of cake spice. However, the entry is not entirely pleasant at first with a certain acerbic and rubbery note that puts all out of balance. An hour later, and the wine settles down to a nicely balanced rich and plummy wine hitting above its weight class. Not 90 points, but excellent value nonetheless.

멜롯에 대한 선입견을 깨준 달콤하고 과일향이 가득한 맛. 사이드는 수윗칠리치킨 매콤한 요리와 정말 잘어울림 행사가로 1만팔백원에사먹음ㅎ

The color is dark and deep red with violet. It has mature red fruit character married with cacao and vanilla. Hints of plum and spice on the palate, generously framed by toasty American oak.It is a ro

Soft and agreeable, showing plum and vanilla notes, with a hint of herbs on the finish. Drink now.

Nice and full on the nose, with a bit of subtle oak that yields smoke, bacon, coffee and mocha aromas. Red plum and sweet berry fruit lead to a smooth finish. Good and in proportion, if a touch raw and woody.

Full-bodied and inarguably fruity. The nose is slightly stewed, while the mouthfeel is firm and acidic, with flavors of apple skin and black cherry. Fairly reduced and hard, so best if drunk with salty munchables.

Smooth, only slightly jammy blueberry fruit; a medium-bodied Merlot with a satisfyingly clean finish. Great quality juice made for early consumption at a value price. A perfect party wine for those seeking a bit more elegance than Concha y Toro's Frontera line.

This Merlot excels beyond its bargain classification by showing purity and a high level of fruit quality. The bouquet exudes plum, chocolate and some creaminess, while the palate bursts with blackberry, bitter chocolate and espresso. Round and satisfying, with enough structure to last a year or two - or until the next vintage comes around.

A plush, well-sculpted Merlot from a reputable and value-conscious Chilean winery, this features fairly intense flavors of red plum and currant and well-integrated dark spice notes that linger on the finish. Drink now through 2002.
