Concha Y Toro Marques de Casa Concha Merlot 2014

Member Review by HMMeyer:

A surprising little gem with the essence of Chile, very ripe blueberries, and deep fruit at the front that finishes with a deep leather flavor.

This review is for the 2006 Merlot. Some of the reviews are clearly not for this wine, but probably other varietals from this winery. I am not a Merlot fan, but this is fantastic. Great nose, dark berries, leather, spice. Smells a lot like a Zin. On the palate again very dark berry, leather, spice, and a bit of smoke. Great surprise. Would definitely buy again.

Неплохое мерло. В аромате красные ягоды и кедр. Вкус полнотелый сбалансированный, многовато древесины

This is a consistently good wine for the price. Good body, would not be embarrassed to serve to most discrminiating friends.

Deep ruby. Cherry-vanilla and floral pastille scents are complemented by woodsmoke, cola and musky herbs. Supple and sweet on the palate, offering pliant dark berry and bitter cherry flavors and a repeating vanilla note. Smooth tannins shape the finish, which lingers with very good, sweet tenacity.

A ripe and expressive red, with rich flavors of dark plum, currant and cherry, flanked by notes of graphite and white pepper. The muscular finish is filled with Asian spice and dark chocolate accents. Drink now.

Auge: tiefes Rot; Nase: Pflaumen, Gewürzen mit Noten nach Schokolade und Vanille; Gaumen: Komplex, weich, samtig, angenehm mit einem lang anhaltenden Abgang.

Wine Spectator ReviewRated 90Well-defined, with a range of green and yellow apple, lime and floral notes supported by judicious toast, which allows a good minerally edge to emerge on the finish. Drink now through 2009.Wine Tasting NotesClean and bright. Light yellow. Combining richness with elegance and vibrancy this ripe, delicious wine serves up tasty pear, fig and toasty hazelnut. Deeply concentrated with silky texture and layers of ripe, opulent fig, pear and hazelnut. It finishes with a long and vibrant character.

Concha y Toro is making a big, burly Merlot for this line and it should have mass appeal given how rich, extracted and oaky it is. The nose is dense as chocolate cake and deep as well. The mouth is chewy and thick, with chocolate-covered berries and another whack of wood.

Like always, this Merlot is a potent brew of dark fruit, molasses, peppery spice and Chilean terroir. The plush palate is extremely ripe and forward, as it offers mounds of berries and chocolate. New World at every turn, and what's wrong with that? 38,000 cases produced, so it's available.

This wine is made from grapes grown in prime Peumo vineyards in the Rapel Valley. It has been aged in French oak barrels for 14 months. The plum and cherry fruit flavors are balanced and supported by the oak. It is full-bodied with a smooth finish. Enjoy this delicious Merlot with broiled steak or lamb chops.
