Concha Y Toro Casillero Diablo Rsrv Cab Chile 2009
Color: Beautiful and lively ruby red colour with brilliant hues. Aroma: The expression of cassis in this wine perfectly represents the Valle Central and its richness in fruit such as cherries and plums. The barrel ageing adds length thanks to the toast and coffee notes. Taste: Initially it shows its structure due to the strong tannins that end elegant and juicy. The fruit flavours are confirmed by the long and elegant after taste which is balanced in the barreling process. Food Pairing: Red meat, lamb ribs and stews with good presence of spices.
At $6.50 for the 1.5 liter bottle, this is amazingly good plonk! Mild nose, plummy start and middle, mostly one well-balanced note, good tannins on the finish. It paired very nicely with tonite's panchetta-based spaghetti alla Carbonara. I dare say it would complement a good pizza as well as any wine out there. I left ~750 ml in the decanter, looking forward to tomorrow's tasting!

With muscular tannins flanked by concentrated black fruit, this is untamed cabernet. A juicy steak would mellow its youthful energy.
A juicy Casillero, this is lushly textured, the strawberry scents surrounded by black pepper and coffee. The tannins are firm and soft, the finish spicy and slightly smoky. And yes, it costs only ten bucks.
For a huge-volume wine, it's what we'd expect. Controlled oak results in aromas of coffee, vanilla, marshmallow and resin in addition to cassis and cherry, while the palate offers generic fruit flavors as well as vanilla and herbal notes. A bit puckery and scratchy, but keep in mind that annual production tops 1.3 million cases.
This wine starts off with a good amount of wood, but then rounds out into a nicely ripe, well-balanced, fruity finish that is uncommon in any Cabernet Sauvignon at this price.
Has some good Cabernet varietal character, with currant and bayleaf flavors and minty notes on the finish. Drink now.
This sprightly white leads with fresh apricot flavors spritzed with citrus. It has an off-dry style that would serve a peach crêpe.With muscular tannins flanked by concentrated black fruit, this is untamed cabernet. A juicy steak would mellow its youthful energy. Best Buy.
Opaque ruby. Cherry, blackcurrant and mulberry on the jammy nose. Chewy, slightly dry dark fruit and bitter cherry flavors are given bite by tangy acidity, with the smoky quality repeating. Finishes with firm grip, a slight dry edge, with the cherry note repeating.
