Smoky sweet fruit in the nose, smoky mocha with nice oak and finish. Smooth, nice!

A tão falada safra histórica de vinhos tinto reserva da Casillero 2007 realmente produziu uma vinho diferenciado. Não sei dizer o quanto superior aos anteriores já que nunca fui grande consumidor do vinho. Mas o Carmenère está excelente. Aroma, achocolatado e frutas vermelhas. Fica uma leve impressão de que falta algo, o gosto não é tão persistente. Mas pelo preço no Brasil de R$ 33,00 é um vinho espetacular.

I bought the first bottle of this at Trader Joe's--where I am often disappointed. Not this time. Less than $9, chocolaty, toasty. Good tannins. I make beef stew with cumin and the bottle just disappears. I wonder if it could age, but I can never wait that long.

For this price range, I give it an A! It's complex enough, with flavors of chocolate and spice, and a nice finish. Just a great go-to wine that complements food nicely and that I could drink every day (esp. at this price!).

This wine comes from Chile, not from Spain, and is a very fine representative of New World wines. It's made 100% from Carmenere (a native French grape that went completely extinguished in Europe after the phylloxera plague) that was planted in Chile before it disappeared from the Old Continent terroirs. Colour: lovely, lively ruby with a hint of purple on the edges. Character: soft and round, medium bodied, pleasant tannins, restrained acidity, nice balance of sugars Tasting notes: a light, fruity wine (leading plum and black cherry notes) dark chocolate, coffee and toast. Good finish, pleasant aftertaste. 2007 is a historic vintage - you get good quality for the money with this one.
