This is tight on the nose with aromatic French oak and a small core of rather precise, lightly candied black currant/blackberry fruit peeking out. A touch soft in the mouth, this nonetheless is well-balanced with a nice combination of weight and intensity. Like the nose, one gets an impression of a wine not giving up its all but what is here is very attractive: red and black currant fruit, a nice streak of earth, a hint of caramel from the oak, all leading to a lovely finish that is moderately long and fruit-driven (though not fruity), with the oak lurking until the finale, where it adds some peppery spice. 91pts

Lots of sweet fruit and spicy oak greets the nose along with notes of candied herbs, dried tomato and black currant fruit. Supple yet bright, this shows a lovely, lively character in the mouth with a blend of red and black berry fruit wrapped around subtle herb and clear baking spice flavors. There's a hint of creaminess to the texture, and a touch of sweetness from oak but this remains refined with good power and lovely balance. The finish is moderately long with a nice blue plum and spice note. Very complete wine. 90pts

I find myself smacking my lips long after finishing a glass. This was really layered: coffee and dark berries on the nose; juicy fruit on the palate; vanilla and toasty oak on the finish. Lots of body with very smooth, soft tannins. I wonder how this would fare with steak & chimichurri, would it stand up?

Deep almost opaque violet, notes of red cherry and mocha, simple but forward moderate plus intensity nose. Moderate plus, juicy acidity, moderate plus alcohol and moderate plus to high intensity, full body. Nice red fruits on the palate, stewed strawberry, cola berry, hint of cherry Jolly Rancher, hint of chocolate covered cherry, nice melding of sweet, sour and bitter, quite a lot of toasty oak. Moderate plus to high tannin, somewhat grainy with an elegant and long finish.

Some of the finest wines produced in Chile, particularly from the Carmenere grape, are being bottled and sold under the Terrunyo label under the direction of veteran winemaker Ignacio Recabarren.

There's a lovely mouthfeel to the layers of coffee, red licorice, red plum and crushed black currant fruit, which all glide over the loamy finish. Very solid. Drink now through 2011.

The Marques de Casa Concha series begins with the 2007 Carmenere which spent 16 months in French oak. Saturated purple in color, it offers up a splendid bouquet of toasty oak, tobacco, Asian spices, plum, and blueberry. Mouth-coating, layered, and bordering on opulent, there is plenty of ripe tannin lurking under the fruit, succulent flavors, and excellent balance. This awesome value will be at its best from 2012 to 2020.

Opaque ruby. Black and blue fruits on the nose and in the mouth, with complicating licorice and floral nuances and a kick of cracked pepper. Smooth and expansive, with subtle tannins adding shape and grip on a long, spicy finish.
