Editorial Reviews for Concha Y Toro Carménère Colchagua Valley Frontera
Some toast and sweet wood spice on the nose balances some black currant fruit with a nice herbaceous underlay. This is a nicely balanced, slightly small-scaled wine in the mouth with good acidity, nice freshness to the smoky, slightly earthy black currant fruit and a nice bed of fine-grained yet austere tannins. The finish is a touch coarse and woody, but the fruit does pop on the finale. Reminds me of modest Bordeaux. 85pts

My Rating 84: This wine has no off notes, is well balanced fruity not much complexity. Nose is fruity well balanced. An everyday wine that i would offer to guest that do not know to much about wine. They will be very happy!!!!
My Rating 84. Pleasant everyday jug wine . Nothing realy wrong, pleasant nose with fruity tones. Full Body with plenty of fruit. pleasant to drink to barbeque. Slightly chilled evebn better.
A nice wine for an nice but common dinner with some friends. Strong nice red color. Normal viscosity. I sensed nice blackberry, plum and some spicy kind of pepperish notes. Though intense not very complex to the nose. In mouth is dry, hot and with the right softness. I find it bodied but lacking some "hardness" like freshness and tannins.
Amazing bang for the buck. Successful capture of carmenere's complexity.

It may have been abandoned in its Bordeaux home, but Carmenegrave;re has found a home and a new life in Chile. It makes red wines with good juicy fruit, freshness, flavors of ripe plums. This example, blended with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Syrah, is a great wine just to drink, full of fruit, with a touch of toast, vanilla and smooth tannins.
