Concha Y Toro Carmenere Carmin de Peumo Chile Red Carmenere 2005
A prestigious range from Concha y Toro. From vineyards where specifically chosen grape stock has been planted in small areas of carefully selected soils and micro climates. This range has been created by Concha y Toro’s top winemaker Ignacio Recabarren. The wines are very individual and characterful and will greatly enhance the reputation of Chile’s top wines. The 2005 Carmin de Peumo is Chile's highest scoring wine in Wine Advocate, giving it 97 points - “The Carmin de Peumo is the winery flagship and a candidate for Chile's finest wine. The Carmin de Peumo Carmenère…Purple/black in color, this profound effort gives up an amazing aromatic array of wood smoke, scorched earth, leather, espresso, blueberry compot, and blackberry liqueur. This leads to an opulent, extraordinarily rich, nearly over the top, sumptuous wine with deeply hidden structure...It is a tour de force!” Wine Spectator also gives it 94 points saying, “Driven and pure, with remarkably supple tannins guiding the black currant, plum, graphite and melted dark licorice notes. Picks up additional loam and coffee notes on the finish, but stays fine-grained and stylish despite its weight…”
absolutely fantastically smooth and full of flavors that fill up your palate perfectly
Had this with a meal at Fogo de Chao last week. Delicious and versatile. Was pretty much ready to go straight out of the bottle. Definately recommended... Wish I hadn't paid restaurant markup... ouch.
incredible! One of my all time favorite wines. Rich, earthy and herby, wonderful body with soft, silky smooth tannins. Better than some wines I have had costing over double the price. A truly unique and special creation!
Had this wine at Alfano's Restaurant. The combination of authentic Italian food and the mouth filling aromas and richness of this Carmenere was superb! What a delight!! Bright deep red, elegant and exotic. We brought 2 bottlles with us to enjoy at home. I highly recommend it.
