Concannon Vineyard Zinfandel Central Coast Limited Release 2006

Member Review by ws6driver:

i didn't like the spicy auroma and taste. It wasn't bad, i just prefer a milder zin with more fruity smells, slightly sweeter tastes up front and leaving you with a more sweet to tart fruit flavor in your mouth. In my opinion the addition of petite syrah to this varietal displeased me the most. not a bad wine and i can see people liking it but to me it's just ok.

They could speak, the rocks of Concannon Vineyard would tell a tale rich in history. Concannon’s treasured contributions to winemaking have positioned it as landmark winery with an enduring commitment to creating outstanding, award-winning wines. We have a history of proud firsts. We were one of the first wineries to pioneer Bordeaux and Rhone-styled wines in California. We are the home of America's first successful Irish vintner, the world's first Petite Sirah and world-class wines from our fruitful, rocky soil. As a founding family of California wines, Concannon created the hardworking Cabernet Sauvignon Clones 7 and 8, which helped plant much of Napa in the 1970s. Pioneering founder, James Concannon, began making wine in the Livermore Valley in 1883. Now, his passion for family and fine wine is evident in every aspect of Concannon Vineyard and we’re fortunate to share it with you today. Read less

The Color is Clean and deep. Medium to dark. The legs are those of clearity without an oil look. The nose is that of spice and a hint of Oak. In the mouth, a smooth bite with a dry tart to follow, leaving my mouth to pucker. Full of Fruitiness, smoke and earth tones to finish. Stayed with me for a while and pleasently slipped away. The hint of a Petite Syrah fruitiness. Bold yet tamed. I liked it and am please that I can get it through the Company store at a good discount.
