Concannon Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2013

External Review:

California’s Central Coast offers unmatched blending diversity from its multitude of microclimates. Cool region grapes contribute distinctive fresh fruit nuances and warm region grapes add depth of flavor and complexity. This highly acclaimed wine takes no shortcuts and is easily worth twice its modest price. The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc, Selected Vineyards is a crisp and refreshing, food-friendly wine. This wine has a brilliant straw hue with a complex nose of fig, melon, lemon and lime. Cool stainless steel fermentation keeps the flavors bright and lively, and the medium body is slightly rounded in feel, leading to a crisp finish.

They could speak, the rocks of Concannon Vineyard would tell a tale rich in history. Concannon’s treasured contributions to winemaking have positioned it as landmark winery with an enduring commitment to creating outstanding, award-winning wines. We have a history of proud firsts. We were one of the first wineries to pioneer Bordeaux and Rhone-styled wines in California. We are the home of America's first successful Irish vintner, the world's first Petite Sirah and world-class wines from our fruitful, rocky soil. As a founding family of California wines, Concannon created the hardworking Cabernet Sauvignon Clones 7 and 8, which helped plant much of Napa in the 1970s. Pioneering founder, James Concannon, began making wine in the Livermore Valley in 1883. Now, his passion for family and fine wine is evident in every aspect of Concannon Vineyard and we’re fortunate to share it with you today. Read less

Fairly light in color for a late harvest wine. Slight botrytis in the nose but not much else. Just a shadow of what Concannon has produced in LH wines in the past. Minimal fruit, short finish. Probably worth $4/ 375ml bottle. My rating -- 81

Cool, crisp wine. Slight hints of sugar for a mild yet dry white.

I had this today. It has a strong and lovely Bouquet and rich, smooth taste. The last time we were in Santa Cruz we also had a Sauvignon Blanc from Monterey and liked it a lot.

Chocolate and oak aroma, rasperry and peach on the mouth. Love it.
