Concannon Vineyard Petite Sirah Selected Vineyards 2010
This wine still appears to be a bit young, but it's still well developed. The color is a deep purple transitioning to a more ruby color toward the edges. The nose feels young and green, with a clear fruit aroma of blueberries and ripe plums, almost edging toward a prune. The fruit is accentuated by aromas of oak, savory spices and fresh herbs, which lend to the perception of this wine being young and "green." The taste is very fruit forward, with flavors of blueberries and raisins transitioning to a combination of tar and tart cherries midpalate. Very nice, like a baby Stag's Leap, rich sour cherry jam and a bit of oak, not too complex, very smooth, 88 pts.
This wine is a lovely deep purple in the glass, and presents a nose of tart cherry fruit, cut grass, and hints of leather and dark chocolate. The taste is marvelously fruit forward, with dark fruit flavors and just a bit of tartness giving way to some richness of ripe plum, and earthy spice midpalate. The finish is quite dry, with very smooth tannins supporting a very modest finish. A little too peppery for my taste
The first thing i noticed when i poured my glass of wine was vibrant cherry and plum aromas. throughout drinking this wine i found many different flavors, all with a slight woody under-tone. This wine seemed vibrant and fruity but not acidic. This is my first taste of any petite sirah but based on what i on this one, i will be trying more of the same.
first example of petite sirah. based o n this one i will be trying many more!
Unique. Not very fruity. A little bit of dark fruit with lots of tobacco, molasses, cocoa, and lots of rose petals on the top. I really like this, but then I'm impressed by Cali reds that aren't too fruit forward. This wine is a really good example of what I love about petite sirah. Big, bold, complex, interesting. Wonderful for the price.

Dark purple color with a huge nose of blackberries and blueberry pie. Some alcohol on the nose as well. On the palate lots of black fruit, wild berries, mocha and plum notes. Charred oak on the finish overpowers the fruit
