Concannon Vineyard Petite Sirah Central Coast 2007

Member Review by r sprezzatura:

Bright ruby color. The aromas are of ripe berries, plums, with a bit of spice and oak. It's a full-bodied wine with rich berry tastes; vanilla, black pepper, and spice are evident, too. A medium finish with soft tannins complete the tasting experience. Good quality wine. I purchased at $5.55.

They could speak, the rocks of Concannon Vineyard would tell a tale rich in history. Concannon’s treasured contributions to winemaking have positioned it as landmark winery with an enduring commitment to creating outstanding, award-winning wines. We have a history of proud firsts. We were one of the first wineries to pioneer Bordeaux and Rhone-styled wines in California. We are the home of America's first successful Irish vintner, the world's first Petite Sirah and world-class wines from our fruitful, rocky soil. As a founding family of California wines, Concannon created the hardworking Cabernet Sauvignon Clones 7 and 8, which helped plant much of Napa in the 1970s. Pioneering founder, James Concannon, began making wine in the Livermore Valley in 1883. Now, his passion for family and fine wine is evident in every aspect of Concannon Vineyard and we’re fortunate to share it with you today. Read less

Expected more after really enjoying the 2005. Still a decent medium to full bodied red with hints of oak, vanilla, and prune. Nicely polished round feel in the mouth - a hint of pepper but may be a tad dull. Still decent. $17 cdn

bold and smooth flavor with a hint of prune or plum in the aftertaste. i liked it and prefer it over the 07 conservancy or 06.

Poor wine, astringent attack and acidic finish. Hints of cassis. Will not buy again.
