What to Expect

Petite Sirah is one of a group of grapes that took to a new home - in this case California - after moving from the relative obscurity enjoyed at its birthplace - France in this case - where it is called Duriff. While never particularly elegant nor subtle, Petite Sirah can produce large-scaled, intense wines with bright flavors of blue and plummy fruits, rich with earthy tannins.

Reviews

It's big, and dark, with very deep plum flavors. Made entirely from Petite Sirah from two vineyards here, one very old, producing less than one ton per acre of extremely concentrated plum fruit; and a younger one that gives a little larger crop of ripe berry character with a little more spice. Alcohol: 13.5% by volume

Big berry jam and bigger plum flavors are balanced with vanilla and a nice chalky mouth feel. Smooth, soft tannins in this richly colored red surprises tasters. Big enough to go with the juiciest porterhouse but soft and smooth enough to match the hottest chili dish without making it hotter. Try it with spicy Asian food, barbecue, red pasta dishes, meat and game.
