User Reviews for Combier Crozes-Hermitage

Winemaker's Notes:

WHWC Staff Notes: Not only did I drink this wine over the weekend while grilling some Korean spareribs, but I recently had the chance to catch up with proprietor Laurent Combier while visiting the winery back in May. Tasting through his arsenal, including a 1995 Clos des Grives (his top, single-vineyard cuvée), was a real pleasure... The appellation of Crozes-Hermitage lies in the shadow of Hermitage. Crozes is to the Grand Cru what a village Gervey-Chambertin is to Le Chambertin. Thankfully, the price is reflected in this difference. But oh so much wine you get for your money...The dark ruby-colored 2010 Crozes-Hermitage offers attractive aromas of tapenade, black currants, cherries, pepper and spice. This rich, medium-bodied, lightly tannic 2010 can be drunk over the next decade. This is a tremendous value for Northern Rhône Syrah. -Kaj Stromer, 7/26/13
