User Reviews for Columbia Crest Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Add your reviewEven better than the 2006. The dark berry nuance is wonderful. Very nice on the nose. A bit more complex than 2006. Very decent finish. When drinking, I Did not let bottle stay open for more than 30 minutes. I would say the 2005 was still a bit better when immediately opening. I just wish I had some more. Although, the 2007 might require more cellaring. I think this depends on how anal of a wine drinker you are. Overall, Excellent wine for your money. Binny's in Chicago is selling this wine for $34.99 on the `07 Reserve vintage. It probably will not last long. Last year the `06 was going for $27.99. Quite a jump if you ask me! I think distributors are betting high since CC won the WS Wine of the Year for 2009 on their `05 vintage. Interestingly, Harvey Steinman from Wine Spectator Magazine (who rates this varietal,) has been rating the Pacific NW moderately high for the last few years too. Maybe the Pacific NW is starting to compete with Northern Cal? Well see. If the Reserve is all out, and want a great value wine from CC, I would recommend the 2008 CC Grand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon. Costco sells it for $7.79. Its perfect for drinking wine any night of the week. I bet WS will rate it a 90. Your non-snoothy friends will think its great. ;). Happy Hunting!
What good is there to say about this wine: it was overly oaked and quite hot on the palate so hardly any of the heavy fruit beneath could come through. full-boded and a punch in the face.
Great value! Earthy and chocolatey and holds its own in boldness with more expensive cabs. p.s. Apparently I'm not the only one! I liked it even better the second day, and went back to my local world market, where they were sold out and said they wouldn't have it again, bec. their supplier was out! I got it elsewhere, but I guess there was a rush!
Amazing value wine. Velvety, dark and complex. Prominent dark fruits and vanilla.
An oaky cab that nonetheless is easy to drink and pairs well with meat or pasta. Can't be beat for the price.
For the money and in my opinion this is a great bottle and an easy drinker that goes well with almost any food pairing.

Meticulously hand crafted in our Petit Chai a special place we like to call our winery-within-a-winery our Reserve wines represent the finest 1% of our total production.
Wer ihn jetzt schon geniessen will unbedingt 3h vorher dekantieren.
Tasting Notes - This wine delivers an enticing bouquet of spice, anise and rose petals. On the palate, a perfect balance of cherry, berry and cocoa flavors lead to a powerful and complex finish.
The nose on this wine is even more complex than the past two vintages, with spring florals and a beautiful blackberry bramble of baking spices that lift from the glass. The difference in the 2007 is a Bordeaux-esque expression of terroir, with elemen... Andy Frieden. Winemaker's Notes:( Superb fruit from select Cloumbia Valley Vineyards and a blend of new American and French oak barrel aging offer this Cabernet Sauvignon pronounced cherry aromas and a rich chocolate bouquet. This intense, complex wine presents a balanced, lingering finish.)
Winemaker's Notes:
Hand-picked grapes from block 99 were crushed with 20% whole berries remaining. Cold soaking on the skins for two days extracted soft tannins and intense color. Twice-daily pumpovers during fermentation occurred for six to ten days to aerate the wine and enhance aromatics and bouquet.
Tasting Notes:
This elegant, complex wine exhibits a dark fruit and plum scented bouquet with a touch of smoke and espresso aromas and flavors that integrate nicely with a silky and an expressive finish.
Notes: Lots were blended and placed in a combination of new and once-used French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation. Aging occurred for 18 months in the barrel in 82% new
