For under twenty bucks at Costco this is a premium wine at a great price. Smooth big flavorful red with a velvet smooth finish. Just the right amount of Oak. Columbia Crest in the past decade has racked up more 90 point wines than any other winery on earth. BTW their barrel rooms cover a modest 14 acres and they are running out of space.

The 2006 Walter Clore Private Reserve is composed of 66% Merlot and 34% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 30 months in new French oak. It exhibits notes of pain grille, pencil lead, damp earth, herbs, and balsamic. This leads to a full-bodied, ripe, layere... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Weingut: Columbia CrestLand: USARegion: Washington StateRebsorten: 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 7% Cabernet FrancAlkoholgehalt: 14,25 Vol. %Säuregehalt: 6,0 g/lRestsüße: trockenInhalt: 0,75 lEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16-18°CFassreife: in Barriques gereift (26 Monate)Auszeichnungen des Columbia Crest Walter Clore Private Reserve 2005:92 Punkte Wine Spectator Rotwein > USA > Washington State

Winemaker's Notes:

92 points and 'Best Buy' Connoisseurs' Guide: 66% Merlot; 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. This very well-crafted wine serves as a welcome reminder that depth and density are not antithetical to refinement and grace. From its rich, nicely layered aromas of cherries, cocoa and sweet oak to its impressively extracted flavors, it exhibits a good sense of proportion and never lets ripeness trump its well-defined fruit. It progresses effortlessly to a long, lightly tannic finish and is bound to age quite comfortably. (Mar 2010)
