At Columbia Crest we pride ourselves on delivering handcrafted, superior-quality small-lot wines, as well as affordable everyday Washington wines. Our first release in 1984 started a tradition that has established us as one of America’s most popular and fast-growing wineries.
Three and a half glasses
Tough to beat for the price. A best buy for red and obviously a cheap gift that will make it look like you spend a lot more.
Can't argue with the price: $10.99 for 1.5L at Costco. I was impressed. Fruit forward, great party wine.
My Rating :90. The wine is elegant with a little too much acidity for my liking. Taste is well balanced with hint of berries and oak . Nose is very long . kept up the second day. Tannins are fine grained and well incorporated
Day 1 glass 1 after 30 minutes aerating showed lots of promise - highly acidic, very tight tannins; clearly needs more aging. Day 2, glass two, still a healthy amount of acid, but more of the beauty of this wine started coming out. Very juicy, dark fruit - blackberry, plum peels, tar, slightly aromatic, and a lovely long aromatic dark fruit finish. But still considerable tightness in the tannins - a couple of more years of age and this will be a voluptuous wine!
"Juicy fruit is gonna move you! Tastes so soft, it gets right to you. Juicy fruit, the taste, the taste, the taste is gonna move you!" When I taste the wine I can't help but think of that 1980s jingle. At $6 (on sale) this is a steal of a value. I love Cab Franc and that's why I've always found Columbia Crest's low priced Meritage (TM) 101 (or as my university would call it MRTG 101) so yummy. This is not a serious wine, but it is a great everyday quaffer.

Columbia Crest has outdone itself with a wine of prodigious fruit extract and spicy new oak accents. Full-bodied and literally bursting with jammy, voluptuous currant and berry flavors, this young red shows remarkable balance and harmony as well as a smooth textbook Merlot finish. A quality wine with flavors everyone will enjoy.
Thoroughly delicious, this seamlessly integrated, palate-coating Merlot matches pretty berry fruit to impressive barrel flavors. Coffee, toffee and chocolate are there in abundance, smoothing out dusty tannins and adding a suggestion of sweetness.
Lean and earthy, with a brown sugar edge to the generous berry flavors. Drink now.
Light strawberry red, mint green, charcoal black flavors merge in this light-bodied wine. It finishes sweet as a lipstick kiss, a simple red for everyday.
The blend includes 6% Syrah, and the wine has a pretty plum and blueberry color, that (perhaps by the power of suggestion) carries through into the aromas. Itrsquo;s tight, tart, and clean, offering a mix of berry fruits and a finish lined with vanilla and tobacco. Overall the balance is excellent, the wine juicy and fresh, and the blend just about perfect.
Though perhaps just a notch below the 2002 version, this remains the Merlot to beat in the budget bottle sweepstakes. Bright berry fruit is married to smooth chocolate, without appearing over-manipulated or laced with fake vanilla. Creamy and consistent, itrsquo;s widely available at a great price. Over 172,000 cases were produced.
