Day 1 glass 1 after 30 minutes aerating showed lots of promise - highly acidic, very tight tannins; clearly needs more aging. Day 2, glass two, still a healthy amount of acid, but more of the beauty of this wine started coming out. Very juicy, dark fruit - blackberry, plum peels, tar, slightly aromatic, and a lovely long aromatic dark fruit finish. But still considerable tightness in the tannins - a couple of more years of age and this will be a voluptuous wine!
My Rating :90. The wine is elegant with a little too much acidity for my liking. Taste is well balanced with hint of berries and oak . Nose is very long . kept up the second day. Tannins are fine grained and well incorporated
"Juicy fruit is gonna move you! Tastes so soft, it gets right to you. Juicy fruit, the taste, the taste, the taste is gonna move you!" When I taste the wine I can't help but think of that 1980s jingle. At $6 (on sale) this is a steal of a value. I love Cab Franc and that's why I've always found Columbia Crest's low priced Meritage (TM) 101 (or as my university would call it MRTG 101) so yummy. This is not a serious wine, but it is a great everyday quaffer.
Has a mild berry scent. Sweet start, medium body, with a soft caramel finish.

A gentle, open-textured red, with red berry and sweet red pepper flavors that glide over crisp tannins. Not a big wine, but has a sense of refinement. Drink now through 2011.
Light in texture, with pleasant plum and spice flavors that linger against fine tannins. Drink now through 2012.
Soft, supple and generous with its currant, cherry and floral flavors, finishing with a spicy touch. Drink now.
Ripe raspberry and wild berry characters are pronounced in the nose and on the palate. Soft and luscious in the mouth; tastes beautiful now, but will grow increasingly complex with up to six years of bottle age.
Bright raspberry scents, with a fresh and lifted aspect that adds to its immediate appeal. The blend includes 10% cab franc and 10% cab sauvignon, a lot of complexity in an $8 wine. This is substantial, layered, with a plummy, herbal, fairly tannic middle and plenty of weight in the follow-through.
This is the second vintage of their popular Merlot/Cabernet, a blend of 59% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, and 19% Cabernet Sauvignon. Black cherry and raspberry aromas are arranged nicely with mocha and sweet coconut. Similar flavors repeat on the palate where they are joined by spice and peppercorn. A mouth-filling and engaging wine with a lingering finish.
Light in texture, with an open weave to the silky raspberry and coffee flavors, finishing with surprising refinement. Drink now.
