Columbia Crest Red Blend Grand Estates Columbia Valley 2014

External Review:

The Grand Estates Red Blend was harvested from vineyards located predominantly on the Wahluke Slope and the Horse Heaven Hills (which contributes texture and body). Columbia Valley vineyards are seated east of the Cascade Mountain range. Vines are planted north to south on south and southeast-facing slopes and the soils have low fertility and low water-holding capacity, allowing precise control of vine growth patterns. That’s how they get such intensely flavored grapes. A blend of 57% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Viognier, 6% Merlot and 3% other varietals aged 16 months in 25% new French and American oak barrels. Wine Spectator scored it 90 points saying "Supple, generous and flavorful, with green olive accents to the ripe blackberry, coffee and spice flavors. Harmonious, finishing seductively. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier, Merlot and other reds. Drink now through 2017." Superb value!
