Columbia Crest 'Grand Estates' Chardonnay 2015

Member Review by Zuiko:

After seeing praise for this wine, I had to try it. The nose has noticeable toast and honey notes but the fruit is dominated by the oak. There just isn't enough fruit to come through the oak. Been drinking Chardonnay for 40 years now and must say, this is no 90 point wine. Short finish and simple. My rating-- 84

For the Awesome Price this wine really blew me away, it was better than some expensive wines I have had! Subtle and great with Chicken!

Why this is only rated at 3.5 is beyond me. It's a delicious, creamy, with a bite of spice chardonnay and you want to savor each sip. I've bought two more bottles, one to age for a year or two in order to taste the flavors as it ages. I think it's excellent and a great price!

I am so disappointed in the 2008 Columbia Crest 2008 Chardonnay. It has very little flavor and doesn't come close to the 2006/2007. I would not buy this wine again, unless I find 2006/2007.

TASTING NOTES: This Chardonnay opens with intense aromas of apples and melons, joined by signature characters of crème brulee, caramelized sugar and butterscotch. The Grand Estates Chardonnay opens with bright tropical fruit aromas that lead in to notes of soft oak and butterscotch. Ripe fruit flavors are bolstered by lively acidity, yet balanced deftly with a subtle creaminess. - Juan Munoz Oca, WinemakerALCOHOL: 13.5%TOTAL ACIDITY: 0.55 g/100mlPH: 3.59

For lovers of lush, buttery Chardonnay, this is the one to seek out. Generously toasty barrel flavors complement spicy pineapple fruit. It’s forward, full-bodied and ready to drink now.

Polished, spicy and expressive, offering spicy, toasty overtones that push against the lemon curd and apple flavors, lingering enticingly, with a hint of smoke. Drink now through 2016.

This lighter style Chardonnay opens with aromas of fresh spiced peaches and honeysuckle. Lively fruit flavors are accented by notes of lemon zest and creamy marshmallow ending with a juicy, crisp finish. Intended for immediate enjoyment, this Chardonnay captures the varietal intensity indicative of wines from Washington state.
