The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 16 months in 20% new oak, a remarkable expenditure for a 200,000 case production wine selling at its humble price. It is dark ruby-colored with a pleasant nose of cedar, spice box, and cassis. Smooth, ripe. and seamless on the palate, this balanced, easy-going effort will provide pleasure for another 3-4 years.
Supple and surprisingly complex, this is generous with its meaty currant and blackberry flavors, remaining polished and finishing with clarity. Drink now through 2015.
Lithe and open-textured, featuring pretty red berry and cherry flavors at the center, shaded with spice and coffee notes. The finish lingers nicely. Drink now through 2015.
Rich mocha and brown sugar accent this wine's black cherry flavors. For barbecue.
Toasty new oak and sweet raspberry fruit make this a good match for top sirloin.
With plenty of consumer-friendly vanilla/tobacco flavors, this value Cabernet also brings in dark fruits - blackberry and cassis. The tannins have been smoothed out a bit, though they still carry a little bit of stemmy edge. A good everyday choice for that burger.
Smoky, slightly gamy aromas and flavors add interest to the basic black cherry and currant in this solid, beautifully proportioned Cabernet. A stylish red, nicely packed with flavor, and with no harsh edges. Drink now through 2005.
