Columbia Crest Grand Estates 2007
At Columbia Crest we pride ourselves on delivering handcrafted, superior-quality small-lot wines, as well as affordable everyday Washington wines. Our first release in 1984 started a tradition that has established us as one of America’s most popular and fast-growing wineries.
Bright chardonnay with an immediate attack of sweet pears and pineapple with a candy-like nectar of peaches, nectarines and even apricot, but all in balance. Crisp, almost floral nose. The absence of toasty oak is a nice hint of vanilla. Actually reminiscent of a lovely Batard Montrachet I had before. The second day, some oak came through, but very slight.
Good value. lemon, apples, vanilla, butterscotch and creamy
This unoaked chardonnay is a fruity and special find. It is crisp, clean more like a Riesling than one usually thinks of a chardonnay. This is a nice wine that went well with our turkey dinner on Thanksgiving. If you like fruity but not too sweet, this is a great find.
No oak gets in the way of this delicious, dry, citrusy chard. The finist is on the mid-palate, and lingers and lingers.
smooth, mellow, no after-taste. not too sweet and not too dry.

From the winery, 'The Two Vines Chardonnay offers fruit-forward apple and pear aromas with a hint of lemon citrus leading into a balanced crispness and creaminess on the palate. The lingering finish is of lush fruit. A lighter style designed for immediate enjoyment, this Chardonnay perfectly captures the varietal intensity indicative of Columbia Valley wines.'
Here's a fresh and fragrant white delivering an enticing mouthful of apple and citrus flavors that echo on the harmonious finish. From one of Washington's biggest names; this vintage is lighter than usual, but the wine is a very good value, as usual. Drink now.
Tight, lean and green, with right, appley fruit and apple-pie spices. This is stylish juice, forward and delicious, with a refreshing liveliness that invites a second glass.
From Washington comes this easy-to-find and easy-to-afford Chardonnay. It's bright in flavor, supple in texture and brimming with pineapple cream and spice notes that harmonize nicely through the generous finish. Drink now through 2003.
A strong, spicy nose opens into a clean and bracing wine, with a firm structure, full flavors and ripe, fresh fruit. It's not as over the top and user-friendly as the enormously popular 1998 and 1999 versions, but it's darn fine every day go-to bottle.
Columbia Crest makes three Chardonnays, of which this is the least expensive. It boasts assertive, somewhat herbaceous aromas of peach and spice; the fruit is clean, forward and zesty. It displays a lot character in a vivid style that showcases Washington's intense fruit and lip-smacking acids.
A Washington white whose appeal doesn't stop with its value price, this is light, soft and tangy, with pretty orange peel and creamy notes weaving through the supple pear flavors, the ensemble echoing nicely on the gentle finish. Drink now.
