Food Pairings for Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley
My Rating 91: perfect berry nose with slight strong Oak flavors. Body very well balanced in the front. at the end it fades away elegant but displaying a medium body. Got this at Costco for $12.99.
This is he one for those of you who are short of cash. This is an inense fruity wine smooth on the palate. It's taste is intense to say the least, smooth, fruity of dark fruits, chocolate, tobacco oak and a smokey finish that lasts on the upper mid palate. If you need a side car wine to go with your prominent selection, throw it in the cart and consider it a bonus bottle for under $ 9.00. I will rate this good and also purchase a couple of bottles for future meals.
After 2 hour decant: slightly more than medium body, smooth, jammy blackberry, strawberry, hint of chocolate and cigar box, subdued but well balanced acid and tannins. Very nice for the price!
Nice fruit forward and for the under 10 crowd this works for that everyday wine or just to have for the super bowl :-). OK since this was more on the medium side and and big and bold it's NOT, it actually went well with the all the snacks . So gave it a 3 cause of the price and how it went well with the snacks. Any higher in the price and I would not get it or rate it as high
Smooth and buttery. Good red but not full bodied.
Very enjoyable. Smooth for a cab. Will purchase again.
Very fruit forward for a cabernet. It tastes more like a zinfandel to me and is a bit jammy for my tastes. Not necessarily a bad wine but I wouldn't pick it again when I want a cab.
External Reviews for Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley
Supple and inviting. A softer style of Cabernet that weaves milk chocolate and spice flavors through the dark berry and currant flavors, mingling effectively on the finish. Drink now through 2012.
Smooth and round. A gentle style of Cabernet with creamy, spicy overtones to the cherry and herb flavors, lingering nicely. Drink now through 2010.
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is another winner for Columbia Crest, bringing spicy blackberry and cassis fruit to a wine with substantial weight and tannin for its price. There are somewhat aggressive notes of vanilla and tobacco, but the fruit and tannin stand up smartly, bringing the wine to a firm and full-bodied finish with added notes of chocolate and toast.
The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 16 months in 20% new oak, a remarkable expenditure for a 200,000 case production wine selling at its humble price. It is dark ruby-colored with a pleasant nose of cedar, spice box, and cassis. Smooth, ripe. and seamless on the palate, this balanced, easy-going effort will provide pleasure for another 3-4 years.
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Estates spent 16 months in 33% new oak, again a remarkable expense for a $11 wine. Medium purple-colored, it sports an inviting nose of spice box, violets, earth notes, cassis, and black currant. Forward on the palate with plenty of ripe fruit and succulent flavors, it will deliver pleasure over the next 6 years.
With plenty of consumer-friendly vanilla/tobacco flavors, this value Cabernet also brings in dark fruits - blackberry and cassis. The tannins have been smoothed out a bit, though they still carry a little bit of stemmy edge. A good everyday choice for that burger.
Supple and surprisingly complex, this is generous with its meaty currant and blackberry flavors, remaining polished and finishing with clarity. Drink now through 2015.
Score: 90 Tasting Notes: This intense, fruit-forward Cabernet Sauvignon delivers aromas of cherries and huckleberry jam, with a perfect balance of earthy tannins, great focus in the mid-palate and a soft, smooth cocoa finish. Website: Columbia Crest
