Colosi Nero d'Avola 2011
Dark, stanky earth, forest floor & black fruits, some of that typical tar-like quality. But on the palate...much better balance than most Nero at this price. Really lays heavy on the tongue with black fruits, spicy notes, oak influence. Good overall offering but this wine is not for everyone. If you're more into light reds or fruit-driven california cabs you may actually hate this...be warned
Nice rich red color. Smell of leather and cherry. Taste is a little sweet, with black cherry. Followed by slight bitter and mellow finish.
Three and a half glasses

This opens with pretty fruit tones of cherry and blackberry, with subtle tones of spice and rum cake in the background.
The 2011 Nero d’Avola flows across the palate with generous fruit. Rich, open and expressive, the 2011 literally bursts from the glass. This hearty, mouthfulling red is undeniably attractive, even if the bouquet isn’t as precise as it ususally is. Anticipated maturity: 2013–2015.
Wine Tasting NotesNero d'Avola is the most important red wine grape in Sicily, and is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties. Dark ruby red, with intense fruit aromas especially cherries. Dry, full-bodied, warm wine and youthful. Perfect with red meats cooked any style, pasta with tomato sauce and aged cheese.
