What to Expect

The classic Bordeaux blends rely on either Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon for the bulk of the wine with additions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec helping to add complexity, color, body and structure to the finished wine.

Winemakers Notes

2000 Cariad
Red currant, damson plum, graphite, lavender, orange rind, teriyaki and honeysuckle. The oak is perfectly integrated. Full bodied with a supple entry and a long finish. Lovely to drink right now, but will continue to age well. Drink now through 2016. Service: Serve straight from the bottle, with care to avoid stirring up the precipitates.

...offers up a flamboyant nose of creosote, tobacco leaf, roasted coffee, chocolate, smoke, and earthy black currant as well as blackberry fruit. With great complexity, a firm, structured, tannic underpinning, medium to full body, and dazzling purity... Robert Parker. Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 108, May/June 2003 (a blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot, 5% petit verdot and 5% cabernet franc; mostly from Madrona Ranch fruit) Good full medium ruby. Big, bright aromas of raspberry, bitter chocolate, minerals and smoke, with an intriguing suggestion of peat. Tangy and bright but also quite glyceral in the middle, with strong, urgent fruit and mineral notes. Energetic, pure wine, finishing very long, with ripe, fine tannins spreading out to coat the palate. A triumph for the vintage.
