Col Solare Red Bordeaux Blend Columbia Valley 2007
“The 2007 Col Solare exhibits aromas of black cherry, currant, and ripe black berries, together with subtle notes of espresso and vanilla in the nose. On the palate, this full bodied wine is rich with flavors of dark chocolate, black fruits, and a coconut spice which leads to a lingering, silky finish.” – Marcus Notaro, Winemaker
While I think I prefer the '06, the '07 is still a masterful wine from Col Solare. Assertive, ripe, and quite complex. Lots of blackberries, blackcurrents, with touches of vanilla and it finishes with chocolate-covered espresso beans.
Cab Sauv, Merlot, and Cab Franc blend. Fruit fwd, black pepper spice, smooth with a little tannic finish. Opens up and smooths out after 30-45 mins. Best with acidic tomato sauce, big flavors.
