Cobblestone Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2004
The “Cobblestone Vineyard Reserve” represents the best of the best from our family estate vineyard on Napa Valley’s Atlas Peak. As our Cabernet matures, we set aside what we consider the finest barrels of each of our two Cabernet Sauvignon clones. From this outstanding juice we then determine which percentage blend would possess the best structure and showcase the exceptional characteristics of the vintage. In the case of the 2004 vintage, it was clear that a pure showing of Clone 4 could not be surpassed. The Clone 4 was truly complete in its intense black fruit, spice, minerality and balance. The barrels selected for the 2004 Reserve Cabernet represent 95% new French oak, complementing the wine’s impressive structure which indicates very strong aging potential (15+ years).
Wow, this is a massive wine! And yet it did not feel overbearing. Big aromas of toasty oak, blackberries, and currants. After giving it time to open up in the glass, you're greeted with a rich dark fruit medley of crushed black cherries and currants. Tannins are definitely there but very ripe and soft. Long finish. Went great with a rib-eye au poivre
aromas of black currants, black raspberry and pepper. cocoa spice on the palate. round tannins, milk chocolate and cocoa combined with loads of berry fruit balanced with nice acidic and tannic structure
