Crisp citrus, notes of minerality. Served to people who liked sweet white wine and they loved this! True to varietal form. I may let this breathe or cellar the year to let it soften a bit next time.

good example of New Zealand Sav Blanc but there are better values for the dollar.

This firm, luscious Sauvignon Blanc is impressively concentrated for the 2008 vintage. It's saturated with gooseberry and lemongrass flavors, and plenty of acidity. Give it several years in bottle to mellow, or serve it now with freshly shucked oysters. 92 Points. Wine and Spirits, February 2009.

I've developed a taste for New Zealand wines, but Cloudy Bay's product is too powerful for my softer pallet. It seems more peppery than sweet, and too strong to match the lighter foods we eat with this type of wine.

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 - Brassaii Restaurant, Toronto. I had this terrific New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough wine region. With a wonderful meal and noted, the fruity (apple, pear, gooseberry with grapefruit and mango) and herbaceous (grassy). Fresh with good acidity. With a very good finish of ripe lime notes.

92 Points - Wine Spectator AnScented and summery, the 2008 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc has deliciously vibrant aromatics that infuse the tropical fragrance of fresh passionfruit and juicy pineapples with garden-fresh basil and the spiciness of crushed tomato leaves. The palate is long and succulent, combining exotic fruits with ripe, red capsicum and a twist of green olive... beautifully complemented by crisp natural acidity and a hint of lime zest. The name Cloudy Bay has become synonymous with outstanding New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Captain Cook coined the phrase on his voyage to New Zealand in 1770, giving the name to the bay at the east end of Wairau Valley. The winery and vineyards are situated there at the northern end of New Zealand's South Island. This unique, cool wine growing region enjoys a maritime climate with the longest hours of sunshine of any place in New Zealand. The winery owns over 200 acres of estate vineyards there and continues to turn out some of New Zealand’s best wines. The Wine Spectator scored this 2010 92 points saying "Tangerine, mango and citrus flavors are pure and focused, smooth, round and wonderfully refreshing, with peach, Key lime pie, mineral and floral elements that really take off on the finish. Drink now."

Wine Tasting NotesMouth-watering aromas of passionfruit and lemongrass led with the spiciness of just-picked tomatoes tossed with fresh basil. Many small parcels of fruit, ripened under ideal conditions, bring layers of complexity to the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. The palate has exceptional richness, with ripe gooseberry flavours and a hint of fresh fennel leading to a powerful, crisp finish.

This stylish white has more pizzazz than most. Crisp in texture, ripe in flavor, with passion fruit and pear flavors up front, picking up hints of mint, celery and grapefruit as the finish lingers. Drink now.

Only in recent years have the delicious wines of New Zealand become widely known outside their own country, and if any one winery from this beautiful island nation has led the charge, it is Cloudy Bay, and in particular its highly acclaimed Sauvignon Blanc. The 2000 vintage, which I had the good fortune to try at the winery last November, has finally reached local shops in most parts of the world.
