Cloudy Bay has built a reputation for refined, elegant Sauvignon Blanc, and the 2017 vintage is no exception despite critical harvest conditions: lower quantities to meet high quality standards. Bright, lifted citrus aromatics of kaffir lime and grapefruit abound, supported by ripe nectarine-like stone fruit notes. An elegant, concentrated palate reveals ripe, juicy stone fruit and lemongrass, supported by a lovely minerality. Not yet reviewed; 2016 vintage rated 90 points by Wine Spectator, James Suckling, and Wine & Spirits.

Beautifully smooth, explosive green and citrus flavor with a razor-sharp crispness that zings the back of the tongue. I adore this wine. Whitehaven was once my favorite, but Cloudy Bay's Sauvignon Blanc is so much sharper and more focused.

Making notes on this awhile after the tasting, so I won't say much...but holy crap, does this wine ever have grapefruit notes! Really lovely and memorable in that regard. Also slightly grassy on the nose. No mistake, the first whiff indicates that this one is a sauv blanc. Kind of viscous - not as light bodied as I expected. Great acid. Thought this was a very good wine, but I need to spend more time with it (and take proper notes next time).

Pours a clear pale straw color. Very light. THe aromas are definitely that of a SB from NZ. There are lots of citrus, peaches and passion fruit aromas. Starts off quite sweet with ample passion fruit flavors. In the middle there is plenty of lemons, tangerines and grapefruit. On the back end, there are more citrus flavors mixed with ample passion fruit. This is a quite acidic wine that has all the makings of a true SB from NZ. This is a quite refreshing light to medium bodied wine. Leaves a moderate taste on the palate. A fair value on this tasty wine.

Pale straw green in color and enticingly fragrant, the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc offers lifted aromas of ripe stonefruit and juicy citrus with underlying notes of blackcurrant leaf and tomato plant spice. The palate is fine yet succulent, with zesty citrus flavors and fresh acidity. There is an appealing plushness about this wine especially as it leads into a lingering and characteristically crisp finish. Not yet reviewed; 2010 vintage rated 92 points by Wine Spectator.

Harvest: The quick Sauvignon Blanc harvest began on March 25th and was complete 11 days later: the second earliest finish to harvest ever at Cloudy Bay. Vinification: Following harvest, the free-run juice was cold settled for 48-96 hours before ranking. Fermentation was primarily carried out in stainless steel with a mixture of cultured and wild yeasts. Approximately 10% of the juice was fermented at warmer temperature in old French oak barriques and large format oak vats.
