Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

"Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir has pretty violet, red cherry and warm raspberry scents with a hint of cinnamon and dusty earth. Soft, elegant and medium-bodied, it gives lovely purity and a more understated expression." --The Wine Advocate

Von allem zu viel. Zu viel Restzucker, zu viel Holz, zu viel Frucht. Nicht mein Ding.

Not a bad pinot, but not a great one. Found it lighter-bodied than I expected. Definitely worth letting it breathe. Fruit flavors were mild, but pleasant. Paired nicely with grilled steak and peppers.

Not worth the money!!! Cheap thin pinot but it does have all the characteristics of Pinot but just in no quantity or quality. Plenty better out there and alot better value

Tasting Notes: Appealing at once, the nose of our Pinot Noir 2012 is ripe with plum, aromatic spice and red florals. The palate is focussed with a savoury architecture; bittersweet chocolate, dark fruit and spice play with leather and hints of earthiness. Chalky tannins linger on a persistent finish. We particularly enjoy our 2012 pinot noir with soy glazed bbq pork ribs and confit of duck leg. Vineyard Notes: Grapes for this wine were sourced from carefully selected sites located within the southern Wairau Valley including our Mustang and Barracks vineyards. The soils have a clay base with aged alluvial gravels that provide good drainage. This soil structure allows a relatively consistent availability of water to the vines through the summer months, minimising water stress to the pinot noir vines. Our vines are all pruned and trained to a two-cane, vertically shoot positioned canopy with an average yield of 5 tonnes/hectare. Production Notes: Six clones of pinot noir were hand harvested with ripe flavours and moderate sugar levels, brix levels ranged from 21.9 thru 25.1. Fruit was picked from the 4th of April to the 30th, completed two weeks later than typical. Winemaker Notes: Spring in Marlborough was warm and sunny encouraging good shoot growth. Come December, the temperatures dipped. Cool and cloudy days were all too frequent resulting in a poor flower set and therefore lower than usual crop levels. Summer continued with cool temperatures (in fact, the lowest sunshine hours in 80 years) forcing grapes to ripen slowly. Brilliant blue skies arrived come Easter and unusually warm Autumn conditions allowed grapes to fully ripen. Acid: 5.64 g/L pH: 3.71 Residual Sugar: 2.4 g/L Alcohol: 13.5%

Deep garnet in color with warm rosy hues. The complex bouquet offers layers of dark berries and cherry, cinnamon, sweet leather, fresh herbs and soft tobacco. The palate is plush and round on entry. Ample red and black fruit, including rhubarb, bramble fruit and cranberry, is balanced with notes of fresh mushroom, white pepper and savory spice. We love this vintage's delicate and lacy tannin structure- and its bright acidity gives delicious lift to the lingering finish.

The 2006 Pinot Noir has a lovely nose with superb delineation: black cherries, talcum, plum and a touch of violets
