Cloudline Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

On the nose, the earth and fruit clearly say Oregon. Nicely structured, with good complexity, the 2015 Cloudline Pinot Noir has deep, dark berry fruits, blue fruits and cola nuts on the nose and palate. A long, complete finish wraps the experience up nicely. Vinified under the careful eye of consulting winemaker Véronique Drouhin-Boss.

Cloudline Cellars represents a first for Dreyfus, Ashby—our own wine. Given our love for Pinot Noir and our long history developing Domaine Drouhin Oregon and other fine wines, it’s probably not surprising that we would choose Oregon’s Willamette Valley as the home for this exciting project. In 2002, the Drouhin Family of Burgundy created Cloudline Cellars. Already well known for Domaine Drouhin Oregon, the Drouhins wanted to offer an elegant, authentic Oregon Pinot Noir that would be approachable young and more widely available than the DDO wines. All fruit is sourced from low-yield vineyards in the Willamette Valley, and is vinified under the eye of consulting winemaker Véronique Drouhin-Boss, Cloudline has quietly become one of Oregon’s most successful brands. The 2013 Pinot Noir remains true to its reputation for high-quality and value. From the beginning, the Cloudline wines have been a hit with wine lovers in the U.S., and can now also be found in Brazil, Canada, Japan, Norway and Sweden.   Read less

TASTING NOTES: Cloudline has a brilliant ruby color and medium body, which is true to Oregon Pinot Noir. On the nose and following through on the palate, I find bright red and black cherries, with a framework of cola nut and ripe dark fruit. Tannins are soft, and the finish is graceful. This is a wine to enjoy tonight, or sometime in the next 3-5 years. - Véronique Drouhin FOOD PAIRINGS: Pinot Noir is well-suited to pair with poultry, beef, fish, ham, lamb and pork. It will play well with creamy sauces, spicy seasonings and may just be one of the world's most versatile food wines.
