This wine is like a favourite weeks holiday in the south of France a few years ago, but distilled in a bottle, totally off the beaten track, cheap, and "just perfect", not through arduous planning, but because all the right circumstances came together... uncork for an olfactory assault - not the most sophisticated, but far better than some of the more expensive relatives in the region - for me this is what personifies real French wine, on the ground. 2000 and 2001 are consistent; very dark, complex, structured and full of beans - a spicy edge and lots of body, just great with a hank of bloody Rost Biff. Remember Agincourt? Well it's half-way across the country; so don't waste any time and get your lips around this!
