Clos St. Denis Domaine Andre Gagey Louis Jadot 95jg 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2010 Clos Saint Denis comes across as seamless and impeccable from start to finish. It is an effortless, graceful wine that defines the essence of what makes Grand Cru Burgundy Grand Cru. It literally hovers on the palate with impeccable class and personality. The Clos Saint Denis was made with 100% whole clusters, which comes through in the wine’s personality, especially on the finish...94-96+" WA 2/12 "The Gagey family’s parcel of Clos St. Denis is planted with eighty year-old vines, and these old vines have performed beautifully in this great vintage. The beautiful nose soars from the glass in a classy mélange of red plums, cherries, raw cocoa, mustard seed, wonderfully complex soil tones, cloves and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, fullbodied and very pure on the attack, with a sappy core of fruit, tangy acids, laser-like focus and stunning complexity on the moderately tannic and perfectly poised finish...95" John Gilman, A View from the Cellar 12/11

Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines.
