Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

The 2003 Chandacirc;teauneuf du Pape exhibits loads of garrigue, seaweed, licorice, salty sea breezes, pepper, earth, and plenty of sweet black cherry/kirsch notes in a full-bodied, opulent, fleshy and seductive style. It is hard to resist, and I am sure the alcohol is pretty lofty given the vintage conditions. This wine should drink well for a least a decade.

Saturated ruby. Deep, powerfully scented aromas of cherry, blackcurrant and garrigue Plump, gently sweet dark berry flavors are impressively fresh and unencumbered by tannins, finishing with gentle mineral lift. This rich, succulent wine will be delicious young.

Superripe and friendly, but also sleek and refined, with a gorgeous mouthfeel to the black currant, crushed plum and black cherry fruit, all laid over black tea and shiso leaf notes. The finish is long and perfumy. Drink now through 2019.

The fact that there are nearly 6,500 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, a great sleeper of the vintage, should ensure that many consumers will have the chance to taste this extraordinary effort. It is a blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and the rest Mourvedre, Cinsault, Muscardin, and Vaccarase, all from 70-year-old vines, aged in tank (the Grenache) and small barrels and demi-muids. Its dense plum/ruby/purple color is followed by a rich, sumptuous bouquet of crushed dried flowers, sweet black cherry and blackberry fruit, a voluptuous mouthfeel, broad, deep, concentrated flavors, and unbelievable purity, depth, richness, freshness, and vibrancy (a hallmark of this special vintage). Accessible and palate saturating, but never heavy or overbearing, this amazing wine should drink well for 15 or more years.

The 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits superb aromas of herbes de Provence, ground pepper, and jammy currant and cherry fruit. It is a big, full-bodied, fleshy, concentrated effort made from a blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 20% Cinsault. Because of high glycerin, heady alcohol, and lush personality, it should drink well young, and last for 12andndash;14 years. Kudos to Clos Saint-Jean and oenologist Philippe Cambie for fashioning some of the best wines of the vintage!

Big and brawny, with lots of brambly tannins framing the blackberry and black currant fruit. Notes of fig, licorice and tar take over on the muscular finish. Long, driving finish drips with dark fruit. Drink now through 2020.

Medium ruby color. Very ripe, full aromas of jammy dark berries, roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Thick and weighty, with solid structure and dense dark berry fruit flavors that build in the glass. Serious, brooding stuff.
