Clos Pepe Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay 2006
Classic Chardonnay fruit on the nose with a round, creamy quality and the lean, high-tone of cut grass. There is a roundness to the palate as well, balanced nicely with crisp natural acidity, and complimented by a viscous minerality. As the nose opens up, melon and a hint of lychee join the profile, which on the palate seem to develop more towards white peach and melon, still accompanied by hints of grass and creamy oak.
Interesting wine. I know Santa Rita Hills more for pinot. This had a nice citrus/lemon character with some hints of corn nuts. Decent acid with minerality in the flavor with a medium length finish.
