Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine ReviewDo not overlook this wonderfully well-crafted and complex Sauvignon Blanc. It takes ripe melons and pears as its central themes and partners its fruit-driven focus with accents of citrus, herbs, minerals and creme brulee. Full and fairly fleshy on the palate with plenty of brightening acidity, it is long and rich in flavor and will prove to be a fine mate to salmon filets pan-grilled with butter and shallots.
Winemaker's Notes:
Note the ‘Stelvin’ brand screw top, which is designed to retain all of the bright and fresh fruit tones that our Sauvignon Blanc In the style of the Loire Valley we fermented two-thirds of this wine in 130 gallon puncheons, allowing us to gain barrel ferment complexity, as well as the subtle influence of new French oak. The remaining portion embraces the new world; fermented and aged in stainless steel at cool temperatures to preserve the gooseberry and tropical fruit tones. Both lots undergo no malolactic fermentation to retain a crisp acidity, and receive extensive lees stirring to give fatness and richness to the palate. The wine is filled with hay, gooseberry, flint and cut grass aromas, with hints of lime, gooseberry, grapefruit and melon. The palate is supple and vibrant with great length.
