Winemakers Notes

The Mitsukos Vineyard Chardonnay is a wine of great intensity, yet also elegance and balance. On the nose, peach, pear and nectarine are deftly balanced with complex yet integrated toasty French oak. The palate is lush and textured, supple and full, with masses of opulent ripe fruit leading to a rich and long finish.

A lovely Chardonnay to drink tonight, this one, from the wineryrsquo;s fine Carneros vineyard on the Napa side, shows bright, mineral-infused pineapple, lime and spicy clove and pepper flavors. The acidity will balance a rich dish, such as seared scallops in a coconut-curry sauce.

Ripe, with rich, lively pear, ginger, hazelnut and honeydew melon flavors, itrsquo;s an easy-drinking, complex style thatrsquo;s appealing.

A well-made earthy, oaky wine with a funky, toasty nose, medium green-apple flavors and a spicy, toasty finish. It delivers all this, but it doesnrsquo;t quite go the extra mile. Consequently it suffers from being too moderate overall.

A beautiful Chardonnay with powerful tropical fruit, lime, nectarine, apricot and new oak flavors. Firmer acidity than you usually get from Carneros. This is a sleek, elegant wine, with a bracing streak of steely minerality. Kudos to owner Jan Shrem for putting it into a screwcap.

Bright yellow-gold color. Full-blown aromas of apricot and peach compote. Fat, round and sweet, with pineapple and honey flavors. In a rather oily, unrestrained style.

Faintly musky, complex nose combines smoke, flint and fresh herbs. Fat, sweet, lush and generous, with nicely integrated ripe acids framing the lime and fresh herb flavors. Finishes with subtle length.
