($70) Saturated ruby. Primary crushed raspberry and currant fruit aromas complicated by minerals, milk chocolate, mushroom and tobacco. Then highly concentrated and a bit muscular in the mid-palate, with a slightly porty dried fruit quality. Offers compelling sweetness in the mouth, but finishes with substantial, somewhat drying tannins. This wine was outclassed by the more vibrant, stylish Clos Martinet tasted alongside it, but, based on other reports I've seen on this wine, it's possible that my sample of Mogador was less than perfect. Suave, sophisticated, rich and concentrated, but remains balanced and polished, with bright blueberry and blackberry flavors supported by toasty, vanilla-scented oak. A modern wine with great structure and harmony. 1,800 cases made.
