Witte wijn van de wijngaarden van Clos Mireille gemaakt van Semillon, Ugni Blanc en Rolle druiven. Vol verwachting door de grote naam van het huis ontkurkten we de stijlvolle fles. De eerste geuren van deze licht gele wijn waren die van meloen, kruiden en subtiele houttonen. Daarnaast zat er een groene zweem in de geur die neigde naar lavendelblaadjes. De boterzachte smaak vulde de mond volledig en zorgde voor een waar genot met een prima lengte. De wijn is werkelijk perfect gemaakt waardoor we niet verrast zijn over het feit dat de jetset in Frankrijk vaak geniet van een “Ottje”. Dit laatste is gelijk het nadeel van de wijn. De geliktheid van de wijn zit hem ook in de weg, de wijn is goed maar is niet spannend of uitdagend. We kunnen niet anders concluderen dat het een uitstekende wijn is maar van een wijn met een dusdanig grote naam verwachten we wat meer bijzonders. 88/100 Supersnobs.nl

Winemaker's Notes:

A very high quality range of Provencal and Bandol wines centred firmly around perhaps the finest Rose of the all. Roederer purchased Ott around 5 years ago and it has been a huge success in the UK of late with the feel of a real iconic brand in the making. We also look after the range of second wine called Les Domaniers. Acquired in 1935 this estate borders the sea, not far from Fort de Brégançon (the French President’s summer retreat) in the Côtes de Provence appellation, and covers 170 hectares, of which 47 are planted to vines. Again, the land was entirely remodelled and replanted in the 1930s, to create this distinctive vineyard blessed with seaside atmosphere and a micro-climate permeated with sea-spray. Lively on the entry, this wine is elegant and floral. It opens onto notes of orange blossom, lemon grass and soft mint. The iodine and mineral notes are reminiscent of the Clos Mireille terroir. It is ideal as an aperitif or with grilled fish, fish soups, shellfish, oysters and seafood.
