Food Pairings for Clos Lapeyre Blanc Jurancon Sec
Recently we got hooked on Jurancon Sec. I bought a bottle of Camin Larredya 2008 during a sampling binge at Chambers Street Wines in Manhattan. When I got it home, six of us tasted it simultaneously and all had a look of astonishment and contentment. The particular bottle we had was one of the nicest white I've ever tasted. I've been trying to get more ever since. I recently bought a screw top Lapeyre Jurancon Sec 2008, hoping that the phenomenon was indigenous to the Jurancons of 2008. Alas, the Lapeyre was very disappointing although it was actually more expensive than the Clos Larredya. While the Larredya was dry, white, and crisp -- almost Sancerre-like -- the screw-cap was more golden and tasted more like a cheap Chardonnay.
