This wine needs two hours of air before it begins to show well. At two hours, the nose displays aromas of tobacco, rum, liqueur, tar, ash and creamy vanilla cappuccino. The palate is fully structured with strong tannins, providing a large stage for an evolving, complex wine. Cherry brandy appears intermittently, along with a mixture of berries, including blackberry and blueberry, intermingling with tart sorghum, red delicious apple skin, and vanilla tapioca. Peaks at three hours. At four hours, complexity begins to diminish and dominant flavor becomes oaken ashes in a rock-circled ground fire. Also becomes increasingly tart as it winds down.
