Deep ruby-red in color, Clos Du Val's 2006 Pinot Noir has an intense, complex nose of raspberry, strawberry, black cherry and spice, with a hint of vanillin. Flavors of ripe red berries, warm cinnamon and a touch of ginger linger on the palate, and oak is well-integrated and subtle. Soft, silky tannins round out this full bodied Pinot Noir, making it a wine that can be enjoyed now but will also cellar well for an additional 2-3 years. A balanced wine with good acidity, the 2006 Pinot Noir is the perfect accompaniment to any meal. - Winery
Wine Enthusiast ReviewRated 87You'll find this Pinot Noir drier, earthier, tarter and even more tannic than most coastal bottlings. It has flavors of cherry skins, black raspberries, cola, peppery spices and herbs. Drink now-2010.Wine Tasting NotesThis Pinot Noir displays a deep ruby color that is darker than most Pinot Noir. Aromas of dense black spices, dark black cherry and blackberry pervade, with a hint of vanillin incorporated in the nose. Our Pinot Noir displays flavors of intense dark fruit, black spice and well integrated oak. It is a rich, complex wine balanced with good acidity and a lovely, long finish. This Pinot Noir typifies the Carneros region and our trademark style of elegance, complexity and balance.
The same can be said for the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Atlas Peak. That vintage was so good, it is hard to hide all the fruit and character. The wine possesses a dark ruby/purple color, medium body, good elegance and a pleasant personality, but what might have been produced if they took the chains off?
92 Points - Wine Enthusiasts"A beautiful young Cab, built along classic Napa lines. Stands at the elegant end of the stylistic spectrum, with relatively low alcohol, less ripe fruit and a delicate mouthfeel. Shows flavors of herbs, cherries and blackberries. Drink now through 2015. Good value in an upscale Cab."-Steve Heimoff, October 01, 2009.
