So glad I cellared this as it needed a year or two. Delightful fruit up front, raspberry pie (without whipped cream) and earthy notes on nose. Medium bodied, the tasting notes do not belie the fruity bouquet, instead intensify them. Add a touch of minerality - crushed turquoise - near the finish for wine which receives a passing B+ from this veteran taster.

Tasted at winery. A superbe pinot noir that has very fresh red berries and hints of spices, both, on the nose and the palate. It has quite a punch too that leads me to believe it would go better, at this stage, with food.

drink between 2012 - 202012/27/2012 - PIGLET THE BRAVE WROTE: 89 Points good drinkable cab. too tight upon opening so let it breathe for an hour. black fruit on nose and palate, lightly tannic. good with food. a nice everyday wine. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comment Options 11/27/2012 - LIFEBREATH WROTE: 88 Points Closed initially. Started giving up some nose and fruit at 10 minutes. A bit thin, but pleasant, with firm tannins. Decent acidity to pair with a meal. A solid 88-89 wine and decent value. I prefer Freemark Abbey for an "every day" cabernet. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comment Options 11/9/2012 - JTINTO LIKES THIS WINE: 89 Points Exceeded my expectations. Great value in sub $30 Napa Cabernet. Would definitely buy again. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) Options 10/8/2012 - LHH001 WROTE: 92 Points Fantastic for the price - very nice nose. A big, dark wine, the 2009 is one of the richest wines I have tasted from Clos Du Val recently. An exciting mélange of black fruit, incense. tobacco, licorice and pencil shavings hits the palate with notable depth and sheer power. Darker fruit, tons of melted road tar, smoke and scorched earth add weight on the deep, plush finish. The formidable Stags' Leap tannins are going to require patience. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029 - Robert Parker 92+ Points Our Flagship Cabernet Sauvignon hails from our renowned Stags Leap District vineyard, best known for elegant and opulent wines. Deep garnet in color this wine is aged in French oak for 24 months. The wine is full bodied and accented with complex flavors of black fruit, chocolate, and mocha. The 2009 Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits extraordinary complexity and balance, bolstered by fully integrated, silky tannins. Enjoy now or cellar for at least 10+ years. - Winery

This vintage of Carneros Pinot Noir is presented with a lovely ruby color. Aromatic spices awaken the nose with bright raspberry, red currant, and pomegranate. Rich complex layers of fruit and spice fill the mouth with notes of mature cherries. An elegant and lingering finish makes it a perfect wine for food, but especially for enjoying by the glass. This Pinot Noir has great aging potential. - WineryAPPELLATION: Carneros, Napa ValleyCOMPOSITION: 100% Pinot NoirFERMENTATION: open top fermenters with 3 punch downs dailyAGING: 14 months in French oak barrels, 20% new barrelsACID: 5.7 g/LpH: 3.67ALCOHOL: 13.5%SOIL TYPE: clay loams on fractured bedrockAGE OF VINES: 7-13 yearsHARVESTED: August 29 - September 12, 2009BOTTLING: December 2010PRODUCTION: 5,500 cases produced ** SOLD OUT **

Dark ruby red at the core with slight fading at the rim. This has an attractive nose of fresh raspberry sweet currant and pepper followed by cigar box licorice and fresh flowers. The palate is medium to full bodied with structured tannins and great flavors of black fruit and spice. The mid palate has great lift with mouthwatering acidity that lingers into a well rounded finish. Time will be needed for this to truly open give it another 3-5 years in bottle and enjoy the following 10-15. Jeff Loo.

Clos du Val stubbornly hews to its traditional style, a dry, tannic and earthy Cabernet with inflections of blackberries and black currants. It's the opposite of the modern style. The alcohol level, for example, is a tender 13.5% by volume. The wine will develop for quite a few years, without becoming profound. - S.H. Characteristic of Clos Du Val's world-class style, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon continues the winery's tradition of producing truly elegant wines of balance and complexity. Its opulent, brooding purple hue is accentuated with aromas of ripe black and purple fruit, black pepper and subtle hints of toast. The palate displays a seamless integration of intense flavors that include chocolate, toffee and blackberry. The wine has a rich yet powerful mouthfeel marked by focused, silky tannins and a long, lingering finish. Expect this Cabernet Sauvignon to age gracefully for an additional 5-10 years. - WineryCOMPOSITION:84% Cabernet Sauvignon7% Merlot6% Cabe...

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2007 growing season proved idea for the folks at Clos Du Val and it shows in their 2007 Carneros Pinot Noir The wines deep red color turns eggplant at the edges and the nose beckons you to sip with aromas of summer berries vanilla and clove If you can stop inhaling long enough to bring the glass to your lips youll find your mouth filled with flavors of black cherry framboise and cinnamon Luxurious and fullbodied the wine balances tannins and acidity making it a great Pinot to enjoy now and over the next few years
