Clos du Mont-Olivet Red Rhone Blend Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2000
Editorial Reviews for Clos du Mont-Olivet Red Rhone Blend Châteauneuf-du-Pape
What a gorgeous nose full of spice, herb, jammy fruit, a little leather, a little damp tobacco, a touch of menthol and dried flowers. Pretty well resolved in the mouth with solid acidity and s touch of chewy tannins still here. There plenty of earthy, dried fruit, baked apple and dried cherry fruit with a bit of walnut/raisin/ apple strudel. This is long and pretty powerful on the backend with deep dark bitter cherry and black plum fruit tones. There's alot of earthy goodness here with an insinuation of green walnut carrying through on the finish. 2009-2014 90pts
Cured meats, dark sweet thick overripe cherries and a bit of wood on the nose. Palate is thick and creamy, smooth tannins, and a mouth full of heat and some leather. Those same cured meats are there, maybe some maple soaked bacon. Long, delicious finish.
Big and meaty but with a real mellow finish. This is pure Pape.
Alluring, brick and dark red color. Not an overly expressive nose, but nice plum and floral notes. Silky smooth on palate. Finish is a bit hot and acidic. Short too.
Rich, heady nose of blackcurrants and ethanol. Soft, showing age with a tar like quality. Nice acidity with truffles on the finish. Very nice.
