Decanted for 2 hours, then vacu-vined, then in the (very cold) fridge for 2 days, then re-opened last night. This is just so intense in every phase right now- deep purple, incredible sweet raspberry fruit on the nose and palate, searing tannins, almost painful to drink, but the depth and quality are evident throughout. another cuvee papet winner. No clue how to score this numerically.
This wine is cruising its way into maturity, displaying a savory nose of grilled rosemary, cedar, hearty plum, salted pork and pepper. The palate shows good concentration, w/ a chewy overlay sweet raspberry fruit pushing the mineral core through the fresh, juicy finish, 93 points.
dark purple to the rim. classic cdp nose- garrigue, ripe black fruits and violets. Delicious palate- balanced, pure and long- very fresh as well. terrific stuff, no hurry, but no shame in drinking now.
Black olive, pepper and licorice nose. Clean slightly medicinal flavors -- good acidity, deep dark fruits -- a very good wine.
Very dry, almost powdery, with its dusky tannins. For an aged wine there's a lot of green olives, green pepper and other vegetal notes. The finish is of bay leaf and cedar.

Up there with the creme de la creme of the vintage, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape La Cuvee du Papet is a gorgeous wine that possesses classical notes of ground pepper, cured meats, tobacco leaf and currant fruit. Medium to full-bodied and relatively approachable by this cuvee’s standards, with beautiful purity of fruit and fine tannin, it should benefit from short-term cellaring and have an easy 12–15+ years of evolution. Drink 2015–2027.
A silky style, with a core of licorice snap, steeped plum and black cherry fruit carried by latent grip through the tobacco and shiso leaf-tinged finish. A perfumy style, with latent depth, opening steadily in the glass. Let this flesh out in the cellar. Best from 2016 through 2026.
Brilliant ruby. Spice- and mineral-accented red fruits and lavender on the intensely perfumed nose. Juicy, focused and pure, with excellent depth to its raspberry and cherry compote flavors. Puts on weight with air without any loss of vibrancy. The mineral element carries strongly through the finish, which features silky tannins and a strong red fruit quality. Extremely elegant Chateauneuf, balanced to age.
Much more concentrated than the traditional cuvée, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape La Cuvee du Papet is a blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre, from the Montalivet, La Crau, Palestor, Bois Dauphin lieux-dits, that was aged 85% in foudre and 15% in demi-muids and small barrels. Its deep purple color is followed by fabulous notes of black raspberry, currants, crushed rock and peppery herbs. This flows to a medium to full-bodied, structured and classically put together Châteauneuf that has fresh acidity and no shortage of tannin. Give this beauty 3–5 years in the cellar, and enjoy bottles through 2032.
