What a gorgeous nose full of spice, herb, jammy fruit, a little leather, a little damp tobacco, a touch of menthol and dried flowers. Pretty well resolved in the mouth with solid acidity and s touch of chewy tannins still here. There plenty of earthy, dried fruit, baked apple and dried cherry fruit with a bit of walnut/raisin/ apple strudel. This is long and pretty powerful on the backend with deep dark bitter cherry and black plum fruit tones. There's alot of earthy goodness here with an insinuation of green walnut carrying through on the finish. 2009-2014 90pts

A classic nose full of balck olives, herbs, shoe leather, lavender, burnt blackberry pie drippings and a hint of mushroom and funk. Rich and smooth in the mouth with bright acidity backing up black berry fruit with edges of mushroom and truffle. The tannins are a touch drying and the finish is a touch short, this is passing peak but still a compelling wine. 91pts

Decanted for 2 hours, then vacu-vined, then in the (very cold) fridge for 2 days, then re-opened last night. This is just so intense in every phase right now- deep purple, incredible sweet raspberry fruit on the nose and palate, searing tannins, almost painful to drink, but the depth and quality are evident throughout. another cuvee papet winner. No clue how to score this numerically.

Cured meats, dark sweet thick overripe cherries and a bit of wood on the nose. Palate is thick and creamy, smooth tannins, and a mouth full of heat and some leather. Those same cured meats are there, maybe some maple soaked bacon. Long, delicious finish.

Big and meaty but with a real mellow finish. This is pure Pape.

Alluring, brick and dark red color. Not an overly expressive nose, but nice plum and floral notes. Silky smooth on palate. Finish is a bit hot and acidic. Short too.

Rich, heady nose of blackcurrants and ethanol. Soft, showing age with a tar like quality. Nice acidity with truffles on the finish. Very nice.

This wine is cruising its way into maturity, displaying a savory nose of grilled rosemary, cedar, hearty plum, salted pork and pepper. The palate shows good concentration, w/ a chewy overlay sweet raspberry fruit pushing the mineral core through the fresh, juicy finish, 93 points.

The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, silky tannins, good acidity, impressive precision as well as aromatic uplift. Similar to, but less evolved than the 2009, with deeper, more concentrated fruit, it should drink well for 10andndash;15 years.

A classically styled Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the 2010 Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape - tasted out of foudre and a blend of roughly 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre and the rest an assortment of permitted varieties - shows plenty of promise... The crème of the lineup and a spectacular wine, the brilliant 2010 Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Cuvée du Papet is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre that sees a very traditional elevage and aging in old wood foudres. ... The sensational 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Papet may turn out to be one of the finest examples of this cuvee since it debuted in 1989. The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition offers abundant aromas of Christmas fruitcake, cassis, kirsch, spice box, smoked game and charcuterie. The wine hits the palate with a thunderous display of sweet glycerin, rich, ripe fruit, some structure and a moderately tannic, long finish. It will be even better with 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last for 12-15+ years. Deep ruby-red. Ripe red and dark berry scents are complicated by notes of garrigue and licorice. Lush, sappy black raspberry and mulberry flavors are lifted by a zesty mineral note and a hint of cracked pepper. Shows good heft and finishes with sweet, clinging red fruit character. Lots of power here but this wine is carrying no excess poundage. A fresh, crunchy style, with bouncy honeysuckle, honeydew and green fig flavors followed by a lively, minerally finish. Delicious. Drink now. 3,000 cases made. -JM
