Clos du Marquis St. Julien 1986

Winemaker's Notes:

"Fullish colour. Still youthful. Very good depth and concentration on the nose here. Fullish. Chocolatey elements. Slightly burly at first. Ripe though. Good clean, long finish because of good acidity. Nice and long. Still very backward - even a bit adolescent - but plenty of concentration. Very fine." (Clive Coates - The Vine)

Enjoyed this wine in 2009 for a special occasion and the wine became the occasion. Rich berry notes with a long smooth finish.

Saturated dark ruby. Cassis, shoe polish, camphor and rose petal on the nose; this reminded me of a great vintage of Latour. Dense and extremely concentrated; explosive yet totally backward. There nothing playful about this infant claret. Finishes wi... Stephen Tanzer. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 1986 Leoville-Las Cases 750ml

Concentrated and powerful, yet elegantly refined, Léoville-Las-Cases is classic. The superb 1986 from this estate (located next to Pauillac's Latour), is rich, full-flavored with intense aromas of cassis, spices and vanilla.
