The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Quartz again offers a liqueur of minerals, has firm tannins, great intensity, and an inky ruby/purple color to the rim, a wonderfully sweet nose of black raspberries, kirsch, licorice, with some smoke and a hint of pain grille. This superb wine has tremendous palate presence and great minerality and definition.

- Saturated purple. Powerful boysenberry and blackberry aromas and a musky underbrush tone give this a somewhat porty impression. But this is remarkably fresh, with vibrant red fruit and candied plum flavors, superb balance and fine, dusty tannins. Finishes with energetic black raspberry and strawberry flavors and outstanding persistence.
