Wine Tasting Notes This Sauvignon Blanc is aromatically intense. Classic characteristics of lime-grapefruit citrus and fresh melon are enhanced with scents of mineral and hints of spicy oak. Crisp acidity wakens the palate to fresh, vibrant flavors of grapefruit, citrus and grass lead to a long zesty finish.

  Clos du Bois didn’t start small and build up like many other wineries - it started with a bang. When it produced its first vintage in 1974, it already had 520 acres under vine in Alexander Valley, part of Sonoma County. When Frank Woods was coming up with the name for his winery, he thought of “Woods Winery,” obviously named after himself, but his children had something else in mind. They were taking French at the time, and instead of “Woods Winery,” they thought of “Clos du Bois,” which loosely translates to “enclosure in the woods.” Obviously the name stuck, and Clos du Bois was born. Since then, Clos du Bois has come a long way. From 520 acres, the winery has expanded to 925 acres of their own, along with many partnerships with other wineries. Instead of partnering with a few, large vineyards, the winery works with many small- and medium-sized growers across numerous appellations. Most of the grapes it purchases from other vineyards are from Sonoma County, but some come from Coastal California as well. Erik Olsen, their current winemaker, joined in June 2003, and has since taken those grapes and made them into very well-received wines. Read less

Paired with a Chinese dinner of walnut prawns, kung pao chicken, fried rice and chow mein. Very nice with that Also paired with cracked crab and butter, french bread, artichokes and salad. Good with that, in a good for the price kinda way. I am not one to drink the buttery Chardonnays by themselves simply for enjoyment's sake, but I had read that they make nice pairing options. This wine has a pretty good QPR. I would give it a 3 glasses rating, but bumped it up a bit for how well it went with the Chinese food, and for the QPR.

Continues the CDB tradition of ripe, full-flavored Chards at a good price. Flavors of pear, apple, vanilla, smoke and dusty spices cascade off the palate, in a richly textured wine that's oaky-sweet. Finishes with dusty tannins.

Medium light body. Medium acid, fruit and oak. Lemon peel, flowers, mint. A pleasant, mild and perfumey quaffer.

Clos du Bois is California's leading producer of 100% barrel fermented Chardonnay. This is a medium-bodied wine, with ripe, fruity flavors. Partial malolactic fermentation adds a rich texture and buttery component on the palate, while aging sur lie lends complexity and depth.

An open, friendly sort of wine with juicy ripe apple fruit rounded by apple pie spices. Balance is good with crisp acidity and a refreshing finish.

Toasty scents of butternuts and almonds fill this broad, relatively dry chardonnay. The flavors are simple and lasting, leaving a clean impression. for roast chicken.

A crowd-pleasing wine, with its oaky flavors of vanilla, smoke and buttered toast, and ripe fruity flavors of pears and tropical fruits. The texture is creamy smooth, with a rich edge of smoky honey. A nice value.

Soft and simple, with decent peach and banana flavors, this Chard has a creamy texture and a dry, spicy finish.
